Program Description
The 1800-hour Cosmetology Program at Summit Salon Academy – Weirton combines theory and practical instruction to prepare students for every aspect of a professional cosmetology career. Training is structured around two essential types of learning:
Theoretical knowledge – building the foundation of concepts, science, and design.
Practical experience – applying those concepts through hands-on training to develop real-world skills.
Program Breakdown:
Theory: 400 Hours
Lab/Practical: 1400 Hours
We offer both full-time and part-time schedule options to accommodate diverse student needs. Program length depends on the schedule selected:
Full-Time Schedule 1: 40 Weeks
Full-Time Schedule 2: 40 Weeks
Part-Time Schedule 3: 71 Weeks
The course is taught in English using a variety of instructional methods, including lectures, demonstrations, visual aids, textbook study, hands-on practice with live models (under licensed instructor supervision), and testing.
Upon completion of the Cosmetology Program, graduates are fully prepared to sit for the West Virginia State Board Exam to obtain their cosmetology license and begin their professional career.
Program Objective
Prepare the student for the Florida State Board of Cosmetology Examination to become a Licensed Cosmetologist and enter the field of beauty.
The grading scale for all academic work is as follows:
- 100-94% – Honor Roll
- 93 -89% – Above Average
- 88–81% – Average
- 80% and Below – Unsatisfactory
